This paper reviews the benefits of conducting communicative language teaching through cooperative learning in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) of English Major students in mainland China. In a foreign language learning context, a cooperative learning environment that structured students in group learning situations foster critical thinking. The paper reveals cooperative learning cultivate university students’ communicative language learning and critical thinking abilities.
